become a speaker

Becoming a speaker to remember

In a world where we are inundated with thousands of marketing messages every day, it is crucial for entrepreneurs to stand out and be heard. But how do you achieve that? As an entrepreneur, how can you become that speaker remembered by the general public, amidst all that competition? And what obstacles, often hidden in our limiting beliefs, can keep you from embracing the limelight?

As a PR consultant, former journalist, media trainer and master practitioner in hypnotherapy, I am convinced that a signature presentation is a powerful tool for entrepreneurs to become effective speakers, reach a wider audience and be remembered. Let’s take a closer look at why a signature presentation can be invaluable to you as an entrepreneur.

The challenge of the modern entrepreneur

The modern entrepreneur faces an immense challenge: capturing and holding the attention of the public in an age where our attention span is shorter than ever. On top of that, the competition is fiercer than ever before, and you have to compete with thousands of other businesses all vying for consumers' precious time and attention. Becoming a memorable speaker can make all the difference in this context.

Becoming an effective speaker

In a signature presentation, you tell your authentic story in a catchy way that captures the hearts of your audience. You will not become a powerful and effective speaker by focusing exclusively on the content of your story. The words you choose, your posture, intonation, the use of your voice and even what you wear on stage determine whether you have a truly good and memorable speech.

Why is this important? Because media coverage and publicity are essential for building your brand, attracting clients and increasing your credibility. As an entrepreneur, if you don't know how to present yourself and your company effectively in the media, you risk going unnoticed, no matter how good your product or service is.

Becoming a good speaker; the invisible obstacles

But what often stops entrepreneurs from becoming a speaker? To take the stage... Often it is the 'limiting beliefs', or limiting beliefs, that hinder us. These beliefs can range from fear of the camera to feeling not interesting enough for media attention. Here are some common limiting beliefs entrepreneurs may have:

  1. I cannot become a speaker because I am not good enough: This is a common belief that can hold us back from stepping into the spotlight. The feeling of self-doubt can make us think we are not interesting enough for media attention.
  1. I must be making (many) mistakes: Fear of making mistakes can keep us from being in front of the camera or giving interviews. But it is important to remember that making mistakes is human and can often lead to valuable learning moments.
  1. No one is waiting for my story: This belief may stem from the idea that the market is already saturated and no one is interested in what you have to say. But every business has a unique story and a unique voice that needs to be heard.
  2. I fear criticism: Receiving criticism, especially online, can be daunting. But avoiding media coverage to avoid criticism can lead to missed opportunities.
  3. Who am I to share this story? There are always people who could know more about your field. Possibly you suffer from Imposter Syndrome. Or maybe you always think others are better. But who takes the stage? Will you wait until it's too late and the story has been told? Or who are you without this thought 'Who am I to take this stage'? And then what happens...

Hypnotherapy as a tool

If you want to become a speaker who grabs her/his stage, you will have to overcome your limiting beliefs. An interesting approach to achieve this is hypnotherapy. As a master practitioner in hypnotherapy, I can attest to the power of this technique to change deeply held beliefs and break negative thinking patterns. Hypnotherapy can help entrepreneurs become more confident, overcome fears and feel freer to appear in the media. A great example of this is Janine:

Conclusion

In an age of overwhelming marketing messages, increasing your visibility as an entrepreneur is essential for success. A signature presentation is a valuable tool to improve your communication skills and get your message across more effectively. However, overcoming limiting beliefs is often a necessary first step to realising your full potential and becoming a dyke of a speaker.

Don't let your own limiting beliefs hold you back. Discover the power of a signature presentation and consider hypnotherapy as a means of overcoming these obstacles. With the right training and mindset, you can become a speaker who shines in the spotlight and reach the large audience that you and your company deserve.

Because that's what you deserve!
